I Love Handmade!

So, after making lots of quilts as presents for friends expecting new babies over the years, I am delighted to have had the excuse to make one for my very own soon-to-be first born.

Nancy & Homemade Quilt

Made over one weekend, I was really pleased with the results, especially the way the colours gradually change through the design and the stitching detail.

We Make London – A Great Success

I exhibited at the incredibly well organised We Make London fair at the weekend. It was a huge success, there was some great stuff on display, and I got a chance to show my latest skyline – the view from Primrose Hill.

The view from Primrose Hill

The press for the show was also great, and I was pleased to see that I was featured in both The Guardian and Time Out London.

I also showed some of my latest handmade books, which I am hoping to make a series of soon. These will be available to buy via the website, but do not hesitate to contact me if you want one before they go online.

Critical Tensions

I attended the 10th Annual conference at the St Bride Library last week. There were some fascinating things discussed, and it was very inspiring.

A couple of the highlights were as follows:

GraphicDesign& – Creates and Commissions new work to explore how graphic design connects with the wider world and the value that it brings. GraphicDesign& partners graphic design with other subject areas in order to publish books, host events and bring news to the culturally curious of collaboration that demonstrates just how much good design matters.  I particularly like the collaboration between Graphic Design and Literature, check out Page 1.

Stack Independent Magazine Subscriptions – Stack is a unique service that brings together the best independent English language magazines from around the world and delivers them direct to your home. Beautifully made and offering an intelligent, alternative view of films, music, art and whatever else crosses their pages, they guarantee a fresh perspective on the world. Every Stack delivery is a surprise – you never know what you’re going to get next, but you do know that it will be an excellent independent magazine that you probably wouldn’t otherwise have found. Check them out.

Origami takes over!

Sorry for the delay in posting. I got rather involved in my wedding, and making origami flowers for the big day.

I will be back to my usual line of work now, but in the mean time here are some photos of a few of the flowers!

Southbank London Skyline

I have just finished a south bank skyline, as viewed from the top of St Pauls.

It will be on the website soon, but in the meantime here is a preview..

The South Bank is coming..

I am currently working on the South Bank skyline, so those of you who like or have purchased the London skyline (North side). Watch this space.

It won’t be long now.

With only a few weeks to go until Christmas, I have started a few Christmas card designs. Hopefully some more to come!

Salty Liquorice

I have recently completed an illustration for the local sweetshop. They sell salty liquorice, which if you have never had before…is what it says on the tin..liquorice that is salty!

You can’t find it in very many places, so having a shop on my doorstep that sells it is a luxury.

If you like salty liquorice, check out their website at suckandchew.co.uk

After the event

For those of you who came to the Little London Fields Festival you will know that it was really busy and a great day despite the random array of weather. I had a great day and was really pleased with the positive feedback and interest in my work.

As you can see from the photos below, I have recently made some hot water bottle covers…these can be made to order to match individual colour schemes.

Little London Fields Festival

This saturday, you can see me and my latest work at the Little London Fields Festival…

Here is one of my new card designs to show on the stall, I’ll be there on the Saturday!
